The majestic western red cedars are environmentally harvested as we only use material from "blow down" trees in our products. "Blow down" is the industry term that refers to trees that have fallen through natural process, not human intervention.
Red cedar wood is aromatic and naturally colored but is predominantly know for its outdoor durability. Natural oils within the western red cedar wood help to preserve its beauty through all kinds of weather. The wood gives off a sweet, aromatic, herbal scent and is used in many of the ceremonial rituals of the Ojibway people.
Western Red Cedar wood accepts a variety of stains and wood oils readily, from natural cedar tones to darker wood stain finishes. If left untreated, cedar wood will, in time, develop a warm gray tone.
